I guess by now you have received word of the changes that were made on yesterday (9-11-2018) by the Southern District Convocation Henderson Administration.
After careful and prayerful consideration, President Bishop Jesse Jones, Vice Bishop Clifton Buckrham and Asst. to the Bishop, Dr. George K. Horton made some decisions to reschedule our 124th Annual District Convocation.
Considering the uncertainties of this potential storm, we felt that the safety of God’s people is our first priority.
The convocation has been rescheduled for September 28-30, 2018 at Holy Temple Church, and the Banquet is scheduled for October 12, 2018, Vance Granville Community College.
If you have already pre-registered and received a convocation package, please do not discard the program. There will be a few changes within your program, however, we do not feel the need for reprinting is necessary.
I know that we, the Southern District Henderson, are excited this year because it marks a great moment in the history of our District: our President, Bishop Jesse Jones, will retire and has truly served this district with all his heart and soul.
Though we have had a temporary setback because of unforeseen weather conditions, I still believe that we as a body can make this upcoming convocation and banquet a memorable one for our president.
I am asking that each of you commit yourselves to attend these events that have been planned. Let us show our love and appreciation for our president.
I am also asking you to monitor our website for any and all updates concerning The Southern District Henderson and Saint John United Holy Church in the future.
Please call me for clarity on any updates or concerns. In the future, we will create a space on our website for such district information. We will also utilize other means such as Facebook, text, email, phone call, etc. It is important that we receive accurate information from the Leadership.
Let us continue to seek God for the protection of His people and for this great state of North Carolina as we all monitor the progression of this storm.
I am also asking you to pray for the upcoming leadership of our District, that the work we do will prosper and show forth the Glory of God.
God Bless You,
Rev. Dr. George K. Horton
Note: It is our desire to assemble ourselves together on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, pending weather at our regular time and Bible Study is canceled for Wednesday, Sept. 12.
